Letter to all Families & Students, April 2, 2021

Greyhound Families,

We are excited to welcome back all blended learning group students together on Monday, April 5th. As part of that return, we will be continuing our layered safety protocols. It is imperative that everyone does their part to ensure our learning environment remains safe for everyone at GCHS. I want to share a few items with you about the return to All-In instruction:

​Arrival​ - students who arrive by bus or arrive prior to 7:40 will need to wait in the Gym. Students may also eat breakfast in the Commons each morning. Breakfast and lunch continue to be served for free under USDA regulations for this school year.

Students who are dropped off, walk, or drive to school are asked to arrive after 7:40am to reduce the number of students waiting in the gym. Students should go directly to their first period class at 7:40 and should not congregate anywhere in the building or walk around the halls.

​Bell Schedule​ - to accommodate a staggered dismissal, we will follow a slightly adjusted schedule, although all classes remain 50 minutes. Advisory days will now be Wednesdays. Both bell schedules are available at

​Class Changes​ - we will continue our one-way hallways around and through the ERC that we have utilized all school year. Students are reminded to follow the arrows on the walls and floors as they move from class to class. It is important, again, that students do not congregate in the ERC, the halls, or the restrooms and go directly to class each class change.

​Lunch​ - we have expanded seating in the commons by adding tables and chairs in our Gym. Students are asked to not move chairs between tables as we are limiting each table to 3 students. At each table, there is a QR code for students to scan & enter their name and table number into a Google Form so that we know who is at each table for contact tracing purposes. Once students select a seat, this will be their table for the remainder of the school year.

Additional seating for students who do not wish to eat during lunch is also available in the bleachers in the gym if they would like to have additional space not at a table. Students eating must be at a table.

​Dismissal​ - we will continue a staggered dismissal. At 3:12, students who ride the bus and are in classrooms in hallways with red lockers, the Greenhouse, the Portable, and the Gym will be dismissed. At 3:16, students who ride the bus and are in all other classrooms (hallways with blue lockers, music rooms, and the School Store) will be dismissed.

At 3:20, all students who walk, drive, or are picked up by car will be dismissed. Please remember that the lane closest to the building is ​only​ for buses. Please use the outer lanes to pick up your students, or pick them up in the back of the building.

​Masks & other protocols​ - it is required that all students wear a mask, covering their nose and mouth, at all times when not eating/drinking everywhere on school grounds or on school transportation. Masks are available every day for students who need a new or replacement mask.

Students are encouraged to use hand sanitizer when entering/leaving classrooms and to wash their hands frequently throughout the day. Everyone should do their part in social distancing to the greatest extent possible. All students are to check for symptoms prior to coming to school, including taking their temperature each morning. Students will also continue to complete the health questionnaire each morning in their first period class.

If your child is feeling ill, displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, or has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, they must stay home; students who arrive at school and have or develop any of these symptoms will be sent home. Please contact our attendance office if your student is staying home on any day. I would like to echo Dr. Wise's email from this morning in that we don't want to have to quarantine other students because a student came to school while symptomatic. Together, we can ensure that all students and staff at GCHS remain safe & healthy.

Infinite Campus (IC) is the District’s Internet-based student information system. Important features of IC are the Parent Portal and NEW Mobile App. Through the IC tools parents are able to access their child’s information, such as class schedules, attendance, academic reports, transportation information, coursework, and put funds in their child’s food service account online. Parents can also designate how and where they wish to receive emergency communications, attendance calls, general announcement messages, and e-mail messages from teachers, the school, and the school district.
