General Information


Exams are coming Wednesday, December 19 to Friday, December 21. If you will need an out of building pass during exam week - have your parents call in NOW to request your pass or have your parent write a note and bring it to the attendance office. Make sure they know the exact time you need to leave school before they call. Remember - you cannot leave and return the same day to take an exam unless you have a court, funeral or medical excuse.  Exam schedules are available in the office.


Reminder to all students to buy a yearbook. The theme for this year’s yearbook is Perspective and they are $75. Don't forget to order yours!

Attention Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen!  Check your email for a survey for the yearbook.  We are working on a special feature in each class section of the yearbook and we would like to hear from you.  

Nursing Home Gifts

Reminder to the students that signed up to bring wrapped presents in for the nursing home--They are due Wednesday to room 305.

Ugly Christmas Sweater

The South-Western City Schools Educational Foundation Scholarships

The South-Western City Schools Educational Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications from 2018-2019 SWCSD seniors planning to further their education upon graduation. Visit www.swcsef.org for additional information!  Deadline is 3/1/19.

Student Council Food Drive

Student Council has started their canned food drive now thru Friday, December 21st. Students can drop cans off in ERC-D every morning from 7:15 AM until 8:00 AM . Please bring in non-perishable food items in cans and boxes, but no ramen noodles, please. This food drive benefits the White Christmas program that is sponsored by the Southwestern Ministerial Association - they provide around 450 meals for local Grove City families for the holidays - all extra items are then sent to the Grove City food bank and stays local. For every 5 items donated the student can have their named entered in a drawing for one of 4 incentive gift baskets (Movies, Coffee, Food, or OSU). There is also  a competition between homeroom teachers. The homeroom that brings in the most items will win a catered breakfast from Bob Evans! Thank you for supporting GC families in need during the holiday season!

German Club

German club's annual Gingerbread house building competition will be tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th, in room 902 . Get your teams ready, first place gets a prize!


Come join SAGA Club for a cookie exchange Thursday, Dec. 20, 3:30-4:30, in room 707! Bring in at least a dozen of your favorite cookies to exchange. You may bring your cookies in to Geri Huygen in the Counseling Office at the beginning of the day for safekeeping until the meeting. See you then!

Special Olympics

Special Olympics Volunteers: Please see the Special Olympics bulletin board by rooms 803 and 804 to sign up for games!!! This is on a first come, first serve basis - so sign up sooner than later. We have many spots that need to be filled!

Grove City Travel Club

Special Announcement from the Grove City Travel Club:  Dr. Nelson and Madame Khan are taking the Grove City Travel Club on the next learning adventure which is set for Paris, France and Barcelona, Spain in June of 2020.  On this 9-day adventure you will see all the major sights including Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Louvre Museum, Palace of Versailles and walk the Normandy beaches, Hike Sant Jeroni, take in the views of the Catalonia region, visit magnificent cathedrals, fountains, experience the history, language, culture and foods of the regions and explore buildings from the 11th century to the 18th century.  To see all the locations, visit Dr. Nelson’s GCHS website and select the Itinerary link. Who can attend? This trip is open to all eligible Grove City students who demonstrate a desire to learn about the world and can abide by the school code of conduct. Current 9th, 10th and 11th graders are eligible to attend. Who should I contact? Dr. Nelson in 1005 or Madame Khan in 1002. However, all information including a color itinerary and payment plan is located at Dr. Nelson’s school webpage. Just go to the main Grove city webpage, under staff webpages select Dr. Nelson and you will find all the information there. How do I pre-sign up?  The trip size is limited, a pre-sign-up link is located on Dr. Nelson webpage, so for now just fill the form out. The trip is a first come first serve basis, so fill out the form. The official sign -up and parent meeting along with first payment is set for January 24th @ 6:30 in ERC. The Grove City Travel Club is going places to experience new learning opportunities, this is your opportunity to learn and grow. We hope to see you in Paris and Barcelona.



The JV Lady Hounds lost to Reynoldsburg Friday night 19-45.  The ladies battled hard but came up short. Leading scorers were Ellie Pollock-Ballard and Elexis Tatum with 6 each.  On Saturday the JV bounced back and played with great intensity to defeat Olentangy Orange by a score of 35-22 Leading the team were Reganne Elliott and Sarah McCoy each with 7 points.

In Varsity action the Lady Hounds dropped both games.  The ladies fought hard on Friday but fell by a score of 60-17.  On Saturday the Ladies fell to a hot shooting Olentangy Orange team.  Leading the Hounds in intensity and scoring was Madison Grube, Alyssa Fuchs followed with 11.  The ladies will host senior night this Tuesday against Franklin Heights.

Grove City boys basketball lost an OCC Ohio matchup against Reynoldsburg in front of a crazy student section on jersey night.  The Greyhounds were led in scoring and rebounding by sophomore, Brock Waits. Sam Stoll and Alex Coffey were also in double figures.   GC is at Franklin Heights on Tuesday night, and back home again on Friday night vs. Gahanna.


Football Lifting will start Next Week. We will be lifting Monday, Wednesday, Thursday after school in the rec center weight room
