Principal's Welcome
Go Greyhounds!
Hello Greyhound Families!
We are excited to welcome the Class of 2027 to GCHS and to welcome back all of our students to start the 2023-24 school year. I hope each of you has had a restful, enjoyable summer and are ready to start the year positively. I’d like to welcome & introduce our new certificated staff members for this coming school year:
Ashley Clark, Intervention Specialist
Megan Collins, Math
Nicholas Gussler, Health
Mike Medich, Science
Billy Merryman, Social Studies
Eugene Nash, Social Studies
Rachel Rendle, Counselor (Li-R)
Brandon Robinson, Career-Tech
Sarah Waugh, Intervention Specialist
Jessica Wilson, Counselor (A-D)
As we prepare for the start of the school year, we encourage students to participate in the following back-to-school activities. It is our hope that we can help create a positive transition to high school for our freshman students and an energetic, positive start to the year for everyone.
Freshman Orientation: 12:30p-4p, August 14 (students only)
Freshman Schedule Pickup: 4p-5p, August 14 (students & families)
Upperclassman Schedule Pickup: 5p-7p, August 14 (students & families)
Open House: 5p-7p, August 17 (students & families)
First Day of School: Monday, August 21
All students are encouraged to find a club, activity, or sport to join; students who are involved are more likely to be successful in school. We have a list of clubs and activities at GCHS available on our website, gchs.swcsd.us. Students can explore our website and students will have opportunities throughout the fall to learn more about our many clubs and activities, such as through our involvement fair in September.
Throughout high school, we look for students to consider their “E”: enroll, enlist, employ. By having a focused plan of what they wish to do beyond high school, students can make informed decisions about their high school experience and set goals to be successful. All staff members can help with these goals or explore what opportunities are available; throughout the year, students are welcome to work with any of their teachers, their counselor, the administrators, or other staff here in the building to ensure their success.
High school is a team effort and we thank you for your continued partnership and support. If there is anything we can assist with to start the year, please reach out to our office.
Thank you,
Bryan O’Shea
